Prayers of a Sick Person

Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, You became man and died on the cross for our salvation. You healed people of sickness and affliction through Your love and compassion. Visit me, Lord and grant me strength to bear this sickness with which I am afflicted, with patience, submission to Your will and trust in Your loving care. I pray that You will bless the means used for my recovery and those who administer them. Grant that my sickness may be to my spiritual benefit and that I may live the rest of my life more faithfully according to Your will. For You are the source of life and healing and to You I give praise and glory, now and forever. Amen.

Lord, Jesus Christ our Savior, Physician of souls and bodies who became man and died on the cross for our salvation, and who healed mankind of sickness and affliction through Your tender love and compassion, visit me, Lord in my suffering and grant me strength to bear this sickness with which I am afflicted, with Christian patience and submission to Your will, trusting in Your loving kindness and tender mercy.  I pray that You will bless the means being used for my recovery, and those who administer them.  I know, Lord, that I justly deserve any punishment You may inflict upon me, because I have so often offended You and sinned against You in thought, word and deed.  therefore, I humbly pray that you will look upon my weakness, and will deal with me not according to my sins, but according to the multitude of Your mercies.  Have compassion on me, and allow mercy and justice to meet, and deliver me from this sickness and suffering that I am undergoing.  Grant that this sickness will become the reason for me to live my like according to Your will, that I might spend the rest of my days in Your love and fear; that my soul, being helped by Your grace, and sanctified by Your Holy Mysteries, may be prepared for its passage into Eternal Life, and there, in the company of Your Blessed Saints may praise and glorify You, with Your Eternal Father, and Life-giving Spirit.  Amen.

Christ, our only Defender, I pray that You descend quickly from heaven and visit Your suffering servant; deliver me from my sickness and bitter pains;  raise me up so I might sing to You and praise you without ceasing.  I ask this of You who alone loves mankind, through the prayers of the Theotokos.  Amen.

Lord, the great Comforter of those who suffer, I ask that You accept the prayers which I offer to You in my affliction.  You have permitted this sickness to come upon me so that I might be chastened.  It is You who sends down upon us both affliction and consolation.  You are the Lord of life and health, and You alone can raise me up from my bed of sickness.  Without Your gracious help I cannot hope to recover.  It is true that I am a sinner who is unworthy of Your mercy;  but, because of Your goodness, You receive everyone who turns to you with a humble and contrite heart.  My Lord, Jesus Christ, have mercy on me.  Say to me as You said to the man who was sick with palsy:  "your sins are forgiven."  Surely, I will not forget the warning which You gave to the paralyzed man:  "sin no more, so that nothing worse happens to you."  My health is in your hands:  You need only say the word and I will be well again.  However, if it is Your decision that it be otherwise, then let You will be done;  only you control my fate, Lord, in life as well as in death.  You know best what leads to my well-being You have favored me with many blessings throughout my life;  and, I pray, that You will not forsake me now, in this time of my sickness.  Once again, I cry to You;  Lord:  May Your will be done.  Amen

Lord, Jesus Christ, Physician of souls and bodies, Who makes us humble and heals us; visit with mercy Your (servant/handmaid)__________.  Stretch Your loving hand of healing.  Restrain the spirit of weakness, cast off every soreness, every fever and pain.  Lord, have compassion on Your creation, for You are blessed, now and for evermore. Amen.

Prayer for Healing

We pray for all those undertaking chemotherapy "chemo.” the use of medicines or drugs to treat disease, that the Lord will work out His perfect will in your situation and bring about healing. We ask that The Great Physician will heal all those that have undergone surgery and radiation therapy and that the fire of God will destroy all the cancer cells. We speak peace to all the patients and ask the healing virtue of Our Lord God will flow through every vein, tissue, cell, ligament and that healing will manifest. We believe that Gods desire is manifest in your life. His desire is written in 3 John 2 “Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along”. We speak peace to all the families having cancer patients. We speak uncommon provisions to cater for all the expenses needed to take care of the patients. We destroy every generational curses and declare that they will not continue but the blessings of God will overshadow each and every one of you. We are in agreement with Gods word in Jeremiah 30:17 “ But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds declares the LORD.” So be it, in Jesus Name.  Amen.

Lord, Our God, you who healed long-lasting and terrible diseases by your word alone; You who healed Peter's mother-in-law of her fever, Master, heal also me your servant of the illness with which I am afflicted.  You who chastised with pity, and heal according to Your goodness and can put aside every sickness and disease, raise me up from my bed of pain and suffering.  Put the medicine of Your mercy on me, and grant me complete healing and health.  For you are the Physician of our souls and bodies, and to you we offer glory, together with the Father, and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages, Amen.

Lord Jesus, You heal all who come to You. At this time of special need, may YOUR healing hand rest gently upon ___(the person's name)

Surround me each day with the presence of Your love and compassion; quiet my spirit So I know Your goodness and be filled with Your Peace. Please heal me Lord according to your plan for my life. This I pray through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Thanksgiving After Recovery from Sickness

Almighty God and heavenly Father, source of life and Fountain of all good things, I bless Your Holy name and offer to You most hearty thanks for having delivered me from my sickness, and for having restored me to health.  Grant me Your continuing grace, I pray to You, so I may keep my good resolutions, and correct the error of my ways and improve in virtue;  so I may live a new life in obedient fear of You, doing Your will in all things, and devoting this new life which You have given me to Your service.  And, living for you have given me to Your service.  And, living for You in this manner, I pray that I will be found ready when it pleases You to call me, my heavenly Father, to whom is due all honor, praise, glory and thanksgiving, together with your only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, and Your all-holy and Life-giving Spirit, now and forever.  Amen.

Prayer Before an Operation

Lord, Jesus Christ, our God, who patiently endured the scouring and wounding of Your sacred body so that You may save the souls and the bodies of Your people, look graciously upon me, Your servant, and give me strength to bear patiently whatever You shall deem fit to lay upon me.  Bless the means for working out this cure, and grant me endurance, so that the wounding of my body may lead to the correcting and salvation of my soul.  For, it is Yours to show mercy and to save us, Christ our God, and to You we send up glory together with Your Father, who is without beginning, and your all-holy and life-giving Spirit, now and forever, Amen.

Almighty God our heavenly Father, graciously comfort your servant name in his/her suffering, and bless the means made use of for his/her cure. Fill his/her heart with confidence that, though at times he/she may be afraid, he/she yet may put his/her trust in you; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Strengthen your servant name, O God, to do what he/she has to do and bear what he/she has to bear; that, accepting your healing gifts through the skill of surgeons and nurses, he/she may be restored to usefulness in your world with a thankful heart; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of Thanks After an Operation

Almighty God, who allows man to fall down so that he might be lifted up again, and who allows him to be wounded so that he might be healed again, who allows him to be stricken so that his wounds might be bound up, I thank You because You have not seen fit to have me, Your servant, die;  but you have shown me Your compassion and have preserved and correct me and help me in my misery.  I ask that You look with mercy upon me, Your servant, to whom You have granted ease and relief, and that You permit the suffering of body to lead to the purification of my soul, and that the good work begun in my may be fulfilled in Your good time, and that I may be entered into never-ending life.  May this come to be through the grace of Your only-begotten Son, with whom You are blessed, together with Your all-holy Spirit, forever.  Amen.

For Strength and Confidence

Heavenly Father, giver of life and health: Comfort and relieve your sick servant name, and give your power of healing to those who minister to his/her needs, that he/she may be strengthened in his/her weakness and have confidence in your loving care; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
